The interactive map below shows the location of Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) and Emerging Hispanic-Serving Institutions (e-HSIs) across the United States and Puerto Rico. According to the most recent Department of Education data from the 2016-2017 academic year, there are 492 HSIs and 333 e-HSIs. To learn more about HSIs please visit the About HSIs Issue Page.
On the map you can chose between viewing HSIs and/or e-HSIs by selecting one or both boxes below. Red pins are HSIs and Green pins are e-HSIs. You can zoom in and out to view any area. The map provides multiple data points and information:
- You can click on/hover over any of the pins to see the institution's name and the total number and percentage of Hispanic students, enrollment information by Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) and headcount and percentages for both. You can also see the total number and percentage of minority students in the college or university.
- You can click on any part of the map, but not on a pin, to see the state's total number of HSIs, e-HSIs and the Hispanic FTE Undergrads, Hispanic Undergrad Headcount and Minority Undergrad Headcount by type of institution.
- You can click on a congressional district, but not on a pin, to see the total number of HSIs and e-HSIs and the names of those institutions located in each of the districts.
